RELEVANT EXPERIENCE FOR BEING A TRUSTEE

  • I have sat on a number of various land Trust

  • I was one of the first Trustee for the PHO

  • I have acted as chairperson for a number of organisations

  • I have sat on a number of steering committees for government

  • I am currently the acting mandated representative on the Heretaunga Tamatea Settlement Trust and am very familiar with its process leading into the last two readings at parliament before it becomes law in 2018

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES AND QUALITIES

Accountability and transparency.  I always give verbal report to our Marae Committee at our monthly hui supported by a written report which is sent out to our members through our hapu database i.e. email.  If unsure I seek guidance from our kaumatua/Marae.  I am not afraid to ask questions, challenge in regards for the best interests of our Marae/Hapu

I approach things with integrity and honesty.

 

YOUR VISION FOR WHAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO ACHIEVE AS A TRUSTEE

Laying foundation in terms of policy to

  1. Grow the asset for future generation

  2. Ensure Marae/Hapu receive their entitled dividends

  3. Build reo & tikanga capacity and quality

  4. Protection of taonga tuku iho - lakes, rivers, moana, whunua, ngahere

  5. Educational pathways for rangatahi

  6. Building strong Maori communities

 

MARAE/HAPŪ INVOLVEMENT

When I can I involve myself on the “pae” of Kahuranaki.  

I sit on the marae committee and have done for about 20 years

Was involved in the celebration of the whare tipuna turning 100

Also heavily involved in DIY for the marae

I lodged the claim around the Glasgow leases of the Te Aute College lands and hope to one day see these lands administered by our hapu, leases broken, compensation for mismanagement paid.
